Name.Space operates DNS servers in several locations to enable free public access to its domain name system, enabling individuals to "route around" the "censorship by default" imposed by the US Department of Commerce. Supported by subsciption fees for services provided, Name.Space depends on numbers of subscribers, much in the way that other media, like listener-sponsored radio WBAI, to pay for the upkeep of infrastructure and bandwidth, and to develop new technology to enhance access and privacy.
